Tamil Nadu land records

A-Register Report for a Tamil Nadu Village (அ-பதிவேடு தொகுப்பு)

An A-Register report compiles every survey and sub-division entry for one Tamil Nadu revenue village into a single spreadsheet, grouped by survey with subtotals — rural land only, including government and poramboke parcels. Pick the district, taluk and village and pay once a price and working-day target are shown.

Use cases

  • Building a village-wide survey list that includes government and poramboke land alongside private holdings
  • Cross-checking a patta-held parcel against the full survey register it sits inside
  • Reviewing classification and assessment across every survey number in a village at once

Overview

A-Register report overview

An A-Register report (அ-பதிவேடு தொகுப்பு) is a whole-village roll built from the Tamil Nadu e-Services land-record portal and a second government source for the rows the land portal cannot supply: every survey number and sub-division the sources hold for the revenue village you choose, across the register’s own seventeen government columns, grouped into one block per survey with a subtotal row under each. It covers rural land only — natham is outside its scope, unlike a Patta Chitta report — and it does include government and poramboke rows, because the A-register carries every classification a survey can hold, patta or none. You choose only the district, taluk and village; no survey number is asked for. The order is priced and charged before the roll is compiled, and delivered as an XLSX spreadsheet, never a PDF or certificate. This is an information copy, never a certified copy or proof of title.

What do the terms mean?

Survey group
One block of rows in the roll: every sub-division recorded under a single survey number.
Subtotal row
The row summarising extent across the survey group above it.
Government / ryotwari
Whether a survey entry is government land or privately held under ryotwari settlement — both appear in this roll.
Poramboke
Government or common land recorded with no patta. Included here; absent from a patta-keyed roll.
Rural only
This roll covers rural survey numbers; natham house-site parcels are not included.

Why might the result not appear?

  • A large village takes longer to compile, given how many columns the register carries.
  • A government or poramboke row carries no holder name, which is expected, not a gap.
  • A recently resurveyed number may still show its old survey number alongside the new one.
  • Natham parcels do not appear here — a Patta Chitta report covers those.
  • The roll reflects what the two government sources return on the day it is compiled.

What this record cannot establish

An A-Register report is an information copy of what the government sources held for the village on the day it was compiled. It does not by itself establish legal title, possession or an on-ground boundary, and a government or poramboke row does not by itself resolve an encroachment or boundary question — reconcile any survey number you rely on against its own A-Register extract, the sale deed and other evidence.

How to use this record

  1. Choose the district, taluk and revenue village you want the roll for.
  2. Confirm the price and the working-day target shown before you pay.
  3. Open the delivered spreadsheet and locate the survey group for the number you care about.
  4. Check its subtotal row and classification against what you expect for that survey number.
  5. Follow up with a single A-Register extract for any survey number whose entry looks inconsistent before relying on it.

What details should you keep ready?

Pick the district, taluk and village. No survey number or sub-division is needed — the report covers the whole village, government land included.

Questions

Before you start.

Including the two most people ask: whether we are the government, and what happens if the record is not there.

What is an A-Register report?

An A-Register report is a whole-village roll: every survey number and sub-division the government sources hold for one revenue village, compiled into a single spreadsheet and grouped by survey with a subtotal under each group.

What do I need to order one?

Only the district, taluk and revenue village. No survey number or sub-division is asked for — the report covers every survey number in the village.

When do I pay, and what happens if the roll cannot be compiled?

You pay after the order is accepted, once a price and a working-day target are shown, and before the roll is compiled.

If the roll cannot be produced for the village, the payment is refunded in full and automatically — you do not need to ask.

What format does it come in?

An XLSX spreadsheet, opened in a spreadsheet application such as Excel or Google Sheets. It is not a PDF and not a certificate.

Does the report cover natham land?

No. This roll is rural survey numbers only. A Patta Chitta report covers natham house-site land in the same village.

Why does this report include government and poramboke land when a Patta Chitta report does not?

Because it is keyed to survey number rather than patta. Government and poramboke land has no patta, so it cannot appear in a patta-keyed roll, but it is still a survey entry, so it appears here.

Is an A-Register report proof of ownership?

No. It is an information copy of revenue records, not a certified copy or proof of title. Reconcile any survey number you rely on against the registered deed and other evidence.
